Sturbridge Village, October 21, 2013
On Monday October 21st 9 middle school students boarded a 15 passenger van along with teachers Ms.Tantillo and Ms. Kellas, bound for Old Sturbridge Village, Massachusetts. The students spent two days touring the Colonial farm village.
The weather was beautiful and the students learned about life during that period in American History. They were able to sit in an 1830’s school house, milk a replica cow and churn butter with the farmer’s wife. The hands on activities were many and the students were willing to give each one a try. They even played outside the school house with wooden stilts. In addition, students took a workshop where they learned to bake cookies in a traditional manner using a tin baker in an open fire. They were able to sample their product and even got to take the recipe home!
